The Princess and The Scribe-III

"In some other place,in some other time,I wish I were born,
Right now,my days are all dark, and there is no sign of morn.
I am torn between my family and me,our wishes clash often,
The agony and pain I feel,no fake sympathy can soften.
I fail in my goals, and I wonder if I am any good or worthwhile-
My self I despise,friends I have few,my life is a bane which I revile."
Saying so,the princess started weeping, and like early morning dew,
On a beautiful flower, from her eyes the first drops of tears flew.
"Princess",said the friendly scribe,"Yourself you must always cherish,
Irrespective of success, love or approval-these things may always perish.
Happiness isn't something you have to earn ,struggle and fight for,
It is like the boat in a lake of life, and you yourself carry its oar.
I spent so long, searching for joy outside of myself, outside of my mind,
Foolish that I was,I didn't see the greatest treasure was so easy to find.
It is now easy to see contentment and satisfaction are gifts we are born with-
That we need to achieve something to be glad,is nothing but a myth.
With yourself, you have all the tools, all the ammunition, all you require,
To have your birthright-your joy,and pull yourself out of your quagmire!
Why do you expect so much of yourself, why use so harsh standards?
Your thoughts and beliefs become your worst enemies, those unholy bastards.
Talk to thyself like you might with your bosom friend,in that sweet voice.
I wish thee all good fortune,I wish you all good cheer, may you rejoice!"

Nothing more

He searched for her frantically- high and low,
But all his desperate efforts had no results to show.
She had descended in his life like the blessings of an angel ,
Her gentleness had moved him,her wit had made him cackle.
They seemed so same, like two peas in a pod-he and her,
A unique kinship,in his heart and soul she did stir.
But she was only for a moment, and then she was gone-
Baffled was he,he wondered where she had moved on.
To talk to her again, one more time-became his sole wish,
He writhed in agonized waiting, like a water deprived fish.
Suddenly one day,she was before him,shining like a rainbow;
Her dazzling purity reminded him of the blemish-less white snow.
He tried to resume where they'd left, but she pretended she didn't know,
Her answers terse, her aloofness and silence signalling him to just go!
Hurt at her coldness,he left with a numb mind and a sore heart.
It felt as if his hopes had been grabbed, stamped on and torn apart.
She looked on at his retreating footsteps,hurt a bit,guilty a little;
She had been cruel to him, damaged his fragile ego, made it more brittle.
But she didn't want him to fall in love with her,to dream a future together,
Coz she saw nothing in him,his love's wings she couldn't feather.
To avoid future hurt, she nipped the bud then and there,
In her mind, she wished he find happiness,he find true cheer.
All of a sudden he turned back and headed in her direction,
She hardened herself to dish out another dose of rejection.
He just passed her a note and went away again,
He regretted he had searched so long in vain.
She opened the note to see what was in store,
It was just written,"I only wanted your friendship, nothing more."

Coffee?

I whistled as I crossed a crowded avenue,
The air was mint fresh, the day was new.
A few clouds dotted the pristine blue sky,
Merry birds sliced through them, flying high.
Out of the blue, a Santro hurtled towards me,
My eyes screamed in horror, fearing what was to be.
A dull thud, and I found myself yelling and falling,
Hitting the road,I lamented meeting such a fate apalling.
The car door swung open,I saw a stilleto stepping out
Eyes like a doe,she was a beauty,a knock-out!
She gave me her hand, mouthing apology profuse..
I could slowly feel it short-circuiting,my heart's fuse.
With smile as blinding as a million billion fireflies,
In front of it,the stars they hide, the moon it shies.
She asked me sweetly if hurt I was and okay I shall be,
I found myself asking,"Would you join me for coffee?"

PoemVille

You just know you are suffering from an acute case of Writer's Block when you have been unable to proceed with a story you have been toying in your mind for two weeks now.I dunno when my neural networks would fire up again,so for now, let stories take a rest.Let's focus on something else here.Poems. :)

I am a bad poet.My poems are meant for seven-year-olds who think rhyming is still cool.
The thing is-without rhyming,I can't write a poem.It doesn't make any creative sense to me.Why....I would rather write prose in stead,if I am not rhyming.A poem without rhyme and rhythm is just glorified prose right???

Well,that is what I used to think.Until I chanced upon the poems of a few awesome bloggers.They didn't rhyme,but boy,did their poems rock!!!!!The depth,the emotions,the feelings.....they kept me coming back for more...

One of these bloggers is http://esoteric-thoughts-posited.blogspot.com/ .I went through a dozen or so of her poems, and while I couldn't connect with all of them, the ones I did like, totally blew me away. She is just one of those intelligent poetesses who weave magic and profound thoughts into her poems with awesome ease.

So,if you happen to know of such poem powerhouses,do leave me a link in the comments section. And yep,if you want to write poems of your own,now maybe a good time to try your hand at it. :) If a shitty writer like me can try his hand at it,you can too.:-)

Best of luck...and happy trekking in PoemVille....
